Mr. Silveira's Family
My wonderful wife Marlo and I live here in Allendale. She is the Reading Specialist at West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science. We have four children who all attend Allendale Public Schools. We also have a silver Lab rescue dog, Remington, who you will probably get to meet during some part of this course. Since both my wife’s family and mine live on the other side of the state, we have made many new friends in the West Michigan area who have become our family away from family. I am the current Head Varsity Wrestling Coach at Allendale High School. I also coach in the Youth Wrestling Program at Allendale.
Hometown: Dundee, MI
Past Jobs:
Before teaching I worked a number of jobs to help pay for college. Those jobs included: building/construction, landscape and design, machine shop, waiter, bartender, garbage man, coach, and tutor.
Past Summers:
I have used my summer vacations to take advantage of more teaching opportunities. I have taught Upward Bound at Grand Valley State university for three summers. I also use my vacation time for continuing professional development by attending statewide conferences and conventions. The rest of the summer was spent with much needed family time.
Hobbies:
Currently my top three two favorite interests that help me unwind are running and fishing. I try to enter in as many 5K/10K/15K/25K races during the summer as possible. My favorite fishing trips are salmon fishing in Lake Michigan, walleye fishing in Lake Erie, and walleye and pike fishing in Nakina, Ontario. Besides running and fishing I enjoy camping, hiking, traveling, kayaking, golf, wrestling, and beach volleyball. We spent most of our free time this last summer hiking, camping, and spending time with friends and family.
